PROGRESSIVE WEB APP INFO

For our scales you don't have to download an extra app from some app-store, you can use it directly from the browser, even at several devices at the same time!

ON ANDROID

On Android (6.0 Marshmallow or later) you can use our app with the Chrome or Opera browser, also the Samsung Internet browser will work.

ON PC (Mac, Linux & Windows)

On a pc or laptop, the following browsers are working with our app: Chrome, Opera & Microsoft Edge.

On Mac you need min. OS X Yosemite or later. Some MacBooks may not work: Check "About this Mac" / "System Report" / "Bluetooth" and verify that Low Energy is supported. On Linux you need Kernel 3.19+ and BlueZ 5.41+ installed. On Windows you need Windows 10 version 1706 (Creators Update) or later.

ON IPHONE & IPAD

On iDevices, its a bit complicated *lol*.
But no worries!

Here you can't just use a normal browser, Apple want to force small people like us to make native apps instead of progressive web apps. They say its for security reasons - but in real they just want our money. Anyway - also on iPhones you are able to use our scale - with the help of an 3rd party app from the official appstore! (which makes it sooo much more secure *lol*). Anyway, sorry that you need an app here!

1st.) Choose and download an App

There are several so-called "Bluetooth-Browser"-Apps available in the official app store. We've tested with the free Bluefy App - which was working great and out of the box for us. But there are also other apps available, for example WebBLE, which we not have tested until now.

2nd) Use that app to open our app

If you have opened the app, navigate to our progressive app website (https://up-scales.com/420/) and you should be able to use the scale directly!

You can use - and we propose that - our progressive web app 100% offline!

Navigate to our download- and update page, there you are able to download all the app in one simple .html-file! This file you can store somewhere on your computer/phone and open it from there directly instead of visiting our website!

If its not working out of the box

then you probably need to set some "flags" in the browser (specially for the SCAN-FOR-SCALES option)! No worries, thats easy!

If the app is not working directly

no worries, probably you just have to allow your browser to connect directly via bluetooth. This you can do with setting some flags in your browser, here is how to do:

For Chrome Users

Type "chrome://flags" in your address bar.

For Edge Users

Type "edge://flags" in your address bar.

For Opera Users

Type "opera://flags" in your address bar.

Once you've entered the Flags menu, search for the following flags one by one:

1st: #enable-experimental-web-platform-features (Experimental Web Platform features)

2nd: #enable-web-bluetooth-new-permissions-backend (Use the new permission backend for Web Bluetooth)

3rd: #enable-web-bluetooth (Web Bluetooth)

Each flag will have a drop-down menu that will be set to Default.

Click to set the value of the drop-down menu to Enabled.

Restart your browser.

If you still have trouble, even with activated flags, have a look here first:

Type "chrome://bluetooth-internals" into your address bar.

This will show the adapter details. (You should see green hooks for at least: Initialized, Present and Powered to be able to use the app.)

Now, try to select 'Devices' in the top left menu and start a scan from there.

If this is not working, then you should check your bluetooth settings! Sometimes a powersaving mode can make trouble.

Sometimes its very simple - does the scale have power?

If everything should work, but you still can't find the scale in the browser - please check if its powered! Open the top with a twist to the left and have a look if the LEDs are on! Unplug and plug again. And check if there is maybe something a bit loose or so!
