FREE CALCULATORS
Free calculators for people who weigh
The maths behind the jobs of the UP↑SCALE app, free and online: roast loss, ℮ prepackages, the USP <41> minimum weight, gold value and density, dough temperature and cannabis infusions. No sign-up, no app - everything runs in your browser, nothing is sent anywhere.
Choose a calculator
Each one shows how it calculates, with a worked example - and what the app does with the same maths on your scale.
Roast loss calculator
The roast loss in %, what a kg of roasted coffee costs you and how much green coffee an order needs.
℮ calculator: TNE, T1, T2
The limits for your nominal quantity, the sample plan for your lot - and the lot check of your weights.
USP <41> minimum weight
Repeatability, minimum weight (2000 s) and accuracy of your balance from your weighings.
Gold value & density test
Fine gold, value and payout of a piece by karat - and the density test that spots fakes.
Dough temperature (DDT)
The water temperature for your desired dough temperature, with the friction of your mixer.
Cannabis infusion & dose
mg THC and CBD per gram of your butter, oil or tincture - and the infusion for a dose per portion.
Why type in what the scale already knows?
A calculator needs your numbers. On the scale, UP↑SCALE takes them by itself: the roast loss is shown before you book the batch, every pack of the ℮ check comes from your verified scale, the routine check takes the 10 weighings when they are stable, and the infusion becomes a product the scale weighs in mg of THC. Same maths, no typing - on the scale you already have.

Free calculators: questions and answers
Are the calculators really free?
Yes. No sign-up, no account and no adverts. The maths runs in your browser and nothing you type in is sent anywhere or stored.
Do they calculate the same as the UP↑SCALE app?
Yes: they use the same formulas, tables and limits as the app - the ℮ sample plans, the 0.41 d rule of USP <41>, the karat table, the friction factors and the decarb factor. In the app the values come from the scale itself.
Can I rely on the results for an inspection?
They are a help to calculate, not an official check. The ℮ check needs a verified scale, the USP and Ph. Eur. values are our reading of the chapters - check them against your edition - and the gold density test is a screening, not an assay.
Which calculator do I need for my work?
Coffee roasters: roast loss. Packers of prepackages: ℮ TNE, T1, T2. Laboratories and pharmacies: USP <41> minimum weight. Jewellers and gold buyers: gold value and density. Bakers: dough temperature. Edibles and cannabis kitchens: the infusion calculator.
