WHY UP↑SCALE › FOR WHOM? › AUDITORS & QA TEAMS
Records you can check in minutes - for auditors and QA teams
An audit of a balance means leafing through logbooks, asking who did what and trusting copies. UP↑SCALE turns that around: the records check themselves, the reviews are part of the records, and the documents for the binder come out of the app.
What helps you most
1Check any file in a minute FREE
Reports, PDFs, record files and exports carry the seal of the scale. Drop the file on up-scales.com/check: it shows at once whether the file was changed, which scale made it and under which report number. No account, no upload - the file is checked in your browser. In the app, CHECK ARCHIVE FILES goes through a whole folder of record files and finds gaps, changes and broken links between the files.

2One scale or everything - never mixed + ENTERPRISE
One adapter can serve several scales. Every log entry and every sale knows which scale was attached. In the app you choose this scale (the default) or everything of this adapter, and the choice applies to lists, CSV exports, printouts, sums and the sealed sales report. For one scale there is an extract: a sealed file whose entries each carry the fingerprint of the one before it, so the auditor checks it on its own, while the complete record file stays complete.
Manual: one scale or everything, all logs
3The documents for the binder ENTERPRISE
Filled in by the app, sealed by the scale, with signature lines for tester and QA: the device qualification (clock and record storage of every PC, tablet and phone), the user access register, the device register, test records, the routine check log, review records and the IQ/OQ record of the calculations. Print them or keep the sealed PDF - you need no consultant for the paperwork.

4Registers for many scales, users and devices ENTERPRISE
The equipment register lists every scale this computer has seen, with interval, last test and due date, as CSV or JSON. An adapter keeps up to 50 scale profiles with permanent numbers (P000001 ...), the scale keeps up to 50 users and 50 devices, each with a permanent number that is never reused - so an old log entry always names the right person, device and scale, even years later.

5Reviews and signatures are in the records ENTERPRISE
The periodic review of the user access and of the audit trail is signed by a QM user with a password. The scale checks it, writes it into the log and seals the review record. Every entry shows the old and the new value, the user and the reason. An auditor asks for a certain entry instead of leafing through logbooks.

6Where the time is saved
- Checking: one drop on the check page instead of comparing printouts with a logbook.
- Preparing: the registers, forms and review records are made by the app, so QA fills in a form instead of building it.
- Following up: the old and new value, the user and the reason are in the entry itself.
- Scope: an auditor who looks at one scale gets only that scale, with a file that proves itself.
We give no hours: the saving depends on how you work today.
7This makes the technical controls as complete as an audit can expect from the product
Everything an audit can expect from a balance and its software is built in. These are the technical controls:
- Audit trail in the scale: who, when, what and why, with the old and the new value, hash-chained, for every connected device (21 CFR Part 11 §11.10(e), Annex 11 §9).
- Access: users with permanent numbers and roles, lockout after wrong passwords, password age, and QM-signed reviews of the access and of the audit trail (§11.10(d), (g), §11.300, Annex 11 §12).
- Electronic signatures: name, date and meaning, checked by the scale and linked to the record (§11.50, §11.70).
- Sealed records: reports, PDFs, record files and exports, which anybody can check on up-scales.com/check (§11.10(b), (c)).
- Time and storage: the device qualification for the clock and the WORM storage, plus the clock guard of the scale.
- Tests and maths: the test suite along OIML R 76-1, the routine check, and the validation of the calculations (IQ/OQ record).
What stays with you is what no product can do for you: your validation, your SOPs, training, checking who your users are, and the storage and time servers that your IT runs. The app brings the forms and templates for these too.
How it saves time:
- For QA: the documents for the binder come out of the app, filled in by the app, sealed and with signature lines: device records, the user access register, the device register, test records, routine check logs, review records and the IQ/OQ record. You need no consultant for the paperwork, no extra validation package and no subscription.
- For the auditor: checking a file takes a minute on the public check page, without an account or an upload. The reviews, the signatures and the log entry of every seal are in the records, so an auditor asks for a certain entry instead of leafing through paper logbooks.
Built to the expectations of 21 CFR Part 11, EU GMP Annex 11, ISO/IEC 17025, GLP and ALCOA+. No software is compliant by itself: compliance comes from your validated system together with your procedures. This is not a certification.
The limits, said plainly
- Tamper-evident, not WORM: changes are noticed, files on a disk can still be deleted. The device qualification documents the write-protected storage.
- The scale has no clock: the time comes from the connected device. The scale logs clock jumps; devices are qualified for their clock.
- Sealed is not signed: the seal comes from the scale, the signature from a person.
