2LISTEN ONLY: your scale stays as it is

Switch on LISTEN ONLY and the adapter only reads the data from the serial port of your scale. It never sends anything to the scale - no weight requests, no tare signals - and changes nothing in it. (Many verified scales have a protective interface that also allows requests or tare - check the manual of your scale.)

3EXACT WEIGHT: the value of your scale

With EXACT WEIGHT the app shows exactly the weight your scale sends - no averages, no lock, no zero tracking of ours - and takes the scale's own stable mark (METTLER TOLEDO, KERN, A&D, ADAM, OHAUS ...). What your scale shows, the app shows (minus a tare you set in the app). Containers and virtual weights of the app are switched off: the weight of the verified scale is never changed by the app.

A display for your customers: when they can't see the display of the scale, the app can be the display (switch it on in the settings) - with marks for NET / GROSS, tare, zero and stable, and a fullscreen indicator view for a screen that faces the customer.

4EXTRA LINE: the alibi number on your label

If your scale prints an extra line with its print key (e.g. the alibi number of a verified scale), tell the app how the line starts: it is not read as a weight and can be put on your labels with the placeholder [scaleline]. It only reads - so it works with LISTEN ONLY too.

5Every scale, from micrograms to tons

You type in the step d of your scale and its Max, like the data plate says - from 0.1 µg balances to weighbridges, with multi-interval and multiple-range scales of up to 3 ranges. Presets for METTLER TOLEDO (MT-SICS), KERN, OHAUS, A&D, ADAM and SARTORIUS, or the automatic detection of baud rate and format. One adapter for several scales? Save each one as a scale profile (PRO 3, ENTERPRISE 20).

6Test your verified scale - before the inspector does

The test suite runs the tests of OIML R 76-1 Annex A on your scale: repeatability, eccentricity, accuracy and linearity, tare, zero-setting and more - judged against the limits of your accuracy class. A failed verification appointment costs the call-out and a second visit: test first, fix the obvious, call when the scale is ready. And check a used scale before you buy it.

Tips from the practice

  • Switch on the interface of your scale in its menu - many need "continuous output", some send only with the print key.
  • LISTEN ONLY + EXACT WEIGHT for every verified scale: then the app neither talks to the scale nor changes its value.
  • Tare on the scale, not in the app, when the tare must be legal: the scale sends the net weight, the app shows it.
  • The weight in the app freezes (– – –) as soon as the data of the scale stop - nothing is booked from an old value.
