The scale for food producers and packers
You fill honey, coffee, spices, sweets or flour into packs with a nominal quantity? Then your scale has to check the packs, prove the lot and print the label. UP↑SCALE does all three - on the verified scale you already have.
What helps you most
1℮ prepackage control with lot report FREEPRO
Enter the nominal quantity of your pack (e.g. 250 g) and the size of your lot. The app shows the sample plan (how many packs to weigh, how many may be below T1), takes every value from the scale by itself and gives the verdict for the lot: the mean, the packs below T1 and below T2. You print a lot report with your company header - the paper the inspector of the weights and measures office wants to see.
- EU ℮ packs (directive 76/211/EEC) or the German FPackV for all packs with a nominal quantity
- destructive tests (packs opened) with their own sample sizes
- lots under 100 packs are checked pack by pack

2Check-weighing with statistics TEST IN FREEPRO
While you fill, the scale shows every pack as PERFECT, OK, TOO LESS or TOO MUCH - big and in colour, with a sound if you like. It tares and logs by itself, so you can check one pack after the other. The statistics show how exact your filling is: mean, standard deviation, Cp/Cpk, a run chart and a histogram. You see at once when your filling drifts - and how much you give away with every overfilled pack.

3Labels with nutrition table, lot and barcode
The label is made from the weighing: net weight, the EU nutrition table (the "big 7", per 100 g and per pack), the ingredients with the allergens in capitals, best-before date, lot number, unit price and an EAN-13 barcode - printed straight to your label printer. Your logo goes on top.

4Recipes and batch reports with lot numbers
Your product is a mix? The recipe guides every ingredient to its weight - also across two scales (kilos on the floor scale, grams of spices on the fine scale). The lot numbers of your ingredients are typed in or scanned, and the batch report shows target, weighed amount and deviation of every ingredient. With PRO the scale keeps a lot store with a number generator, so two phones never give the same number - and a recalled lot can be locked.

5Filling molds and machines TEST IN FREEPRO
Chocolate molds, cups or bags: the factory mode guides the filling cavity by cavity and keeps the averages. With a filling machine, the scale stops the valve or auger over ESP-NOW at the right moment and learns the delay of your machine by itself.

6The daily check of your scale
Your HACCP plan asks you to check the scale? The routine check before use takes a minute: put your test weight on a few times, the app says PASS or FAIL and keeps a log. A failed check shows a red bar until a re-test passes - nobody works on with a wrong scale by mistake. With ENTERPRISE the whole log becomes a sealed PDF report.

Tips from the practice
- Use your verified scale. For ℮ packs the filling must be checked with a verified scale - plug the RS-232 adapter into it and switch on LISTEN ONLY and EXACT WEIGHT.
- Tare with the real packaging. Save the empty pack as a container - the app subtracts it, also when the pack is already full.
- Fill a little above the nominal quantity, not far above: the statistics show your mean and spread, so you can set the filling as low as the rules allow - every gram less overfill is money.
- One lot = one filling (max. one hour of a filling line, else max. 10,000 packs). Start a new series for every lot.
The rules you should know
- Prepackages: EU directive 76/211/EEC (℮ mark), in Germany the Fertigpackungsverordnung (FPackV) - the mean must not be below the nominal quantity, few packs below T1, none below T2
- Measuring instruments: the scale for checking and for the ℮ must be verified (NAWI directive 2014/31/EU, OIML R 76) - the app itself is not verified, the display of your scale stays the legal reading
- Food labels: EU food information regulation 1169/2011 (LMIV): nutrition declaration, allergens highlighted, net quantity
- HACCP: the check of your measuring equipment is part of your own HACCP plan
UP↑SCALE helps you to check and document - it is no legal advice and makes no claim that an authority accepts its reports. Ask your weights and measures office (in Germany the Eichamt) about your setup. More: LEGAL FOR TRADE in the manual.
